Ultimate Guide: The Top 10 Beaches and Coves in Mallorca

Mallorca is known for its beautiful beaches and picturesque coves. In this blog post, I explore the top 10 beaches and bays of this Mediterranean paradise. From secluded, hidden gems to lively coastal destinations with various activities, discover the most breathtaking locations in Mallorca!

1. Cala Mesquida

One of our favourite beaches is probably Cala Mesquida, located six kilometres north of Cala Ratjada. Its wide views make it one of the most beautiful beaches in the northeast of the island. With fine white sand, crystal clear waters and dunes, this beach offers an ideal setting for relaxation, walks and, sometimes, the opportunity for surfers to catch a wave.

2. Cala Agulla

Cala Agulla is located next to Cala Mesquida, separated by just a mountain. This beautiful beach is surrounded by pine trees and mountains. The water is remarkably clean and has a lovely light blue hue, making it the ideal place for swimming, snorkelling and various water sports. Moreover, it is a protected area where fishing is not allowed, so you will discover a colourful underwater world while snorkelling!

3. Cala Millor

Since 2018, Cala Millor has been my home! Cala Millor's sandy beach stretches for 1.8 kilometres and offers crystal-clear waters, making it probably one of the best beaches on Mallorca's east coast. A beautiful promenade runs along the beach, ideal for cycling, walking, exploring gift shops, and enjoying drinks in one of the many bars, cafés and restaurants. This promenade leads you all the way from Cala Nau to the port of Cala Bona.

4. Es Trenc

This beach is the largest and most pristine beach on the island. The 3.5-kilometre-long white sand beach with sand dunes and turquoise Caribbean waters is as popular with locals as it is with tourists. Although it can be quite crowded during high season, a visit is definitely worthwhile. There are also two beach bars offering refreshing drinks and snacks accompanied by relaxing chill-out music. My recommendation is to go in the post-season, between September and October.

5. Cala Domingos

Cala Domingos belongs to Cales de Mallorca and is separated by a steep cliff. This bay is ideal for experienced snorkellers due to the presence of numerous underwater caves. During high season, however, the beach can be quite crowded, so getting up early is a good tip if you want to get a good spot! Moreover, the beach has Blue Flag status for its cleanliness and is an excellent place to relax.

6. Cala Antena

Like Cala Domingo, the small bay of Cala Antena is also part of Cales de Mallorca. This bay offers a surprisingly cosy spot for a few relaxing hours by the water. The small sandy beach, located below the village, is surrounded on both sides by rocks, creating a picturesque landscape. The soft sand and shallow water make it especially popular with families. With a small beach bar, sun loungers, showers and toilets, it is well equipped, making it a guaranteed success for a relaxing beach holiday.

7. Platja de Muro

This beach, located in Alcúdia, is characterised by its white sand, clear blue water and various activities for everyone. What makes this beach special is the shallowness of the water. Along this Mallorca coastline you will now find luxury five-star hotels, excellent restaurants and cosy beach clubs. It is a perfect place to spend the whole day.

8. Cala Sa Nau

Cala Sa Nau is magnificently located at the end of a 350-metre-long, fjord-like cove shaped like an S. The beach is surrounded by light brown cliffs with pine trees in the background. Although the bay is not very large, it is rarely really crowded. The white, fine-grained sand looks picturesque, as do the clear and calm waters.

9. Cala Anguila

Cala Anguila is also one of my favourite coves. This small cove on Mallorca's east coast lies between Cala Mendia and Cala Magrana. Deeply embedded in a beautiful bay, Cala Anguila is surrounded by cliffs on both sides. From the beach, you'll enjoy views of magnificent pines, palm trees and just a handful of buildings. The light sand and incredibly clear water with beautiful shades of turquoise complete the experience. In addition, there is a small beach bar.

10. Cala Figuera

Cala Figuera is a traditional fishing village with white-painted houses in south-eastern Mallorca. Although it has no beach, the water is so clear that it is an excellent place for diving and snorkelling. What makes Cala Figuera special for us is the almost complete absence of large tourist hotels. The village is far from commercial and is out of sight of most major tour operators. Fun Fact: A scene from the Netflix series 'White Lines' was also shot here!
