Discover Mallorca: The Top 8 Must-Visit Places for your Trip

As you may already know, I have been living in beautiful Mallorca since 2018. Therefore, I have compiled a list of the 8 best places to visit during your stay on the island!

1. Palma de Mallorca

Culture, music, food, drink, beach and an imposing cathedral - Palma has it all. A visit to Majorca is not complete without exploring the capital, with its beautiful old town steeped in centuries of history. Palma offers a harmonious blend of the old and new. It offers excellent shopping and delicious food in a variety of restaurants. The city breathes art and a must-visit is definitely the cathedral. In addition, it is worth just wandering the streets and soaking up the atmosphere!

2. Cap de Formentor

If you like driving, follow the road north between the beautiful mountains of Cap de Formentor. It is a fantastic drive by car or motorbike, preferably in the early or late season, as it is closed during high season due to the many tourists.

The route leads to the top, culminating in the Mirador del Mal Pas, where you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the endless blue seas and the bays of Alcúdia. Fun Fact: Op deze wegen zijn veel advertenties voor automerken zoals Porsche opgenomen.

3. Puerto Portals

Just a 10-minute drive from Palma is Puerto Portals, a luxury port with magnificent yachts. Here you will find designer shops and numerous restaurants with excellent food. Definitely recommended if you love luxury!

4. Pollença & Port de Pollença

Close to Alcudia, Pollença is a small town that is definitely worth a visit. It offers high-quality restaurants and boutiques. The highlight of the town is the Calvari, with its 365 steps that lead you to the top, where you can enjoy stunning views and the rich history of the location. Pollença was Majorca's first capital and was conquered by the Romans in 123 BC, making it known as "Pollentia" at the time.

5. Sóller & Port de Sóller

Located in the northwest of the island, Sóller enchants with its picturesque old town nestled in the mountains, complete with a distinctive church, charming streets and numerous bakeries offering typical Majorcan food.

A special attraction is the tram that runs through the town and goes all the way to Port de Sóller, a port worth a visit for its vast bay and mythical "llaüts" (typical Majorcan boats).

6. Valldemossa

Often considered one of Mallorca's most beautiful villages, Valldemossa is located in the mountains on the west side of the island. The old streets of the village are dotted with flowers and plants, and its rich history and beautiful gardens make it the perfect place to spend a day wandering around and enjoying it.

7. Artà

In the east of Mallorca lies the small town of Artà. Artà's charm lies in its winding streets, historic architecture and warm atmosphere. Blessed with a rich history and beautiful surroundings, the town was declared a Cultural Heritage Site by the Balearic Islands government in 2003.

Spending a day in Artà is like travelling through time, with its well-preserved medieval buildings and stately churches. It is a delight to stroll through the local craft shops and discover authentic Majorcan arts and crafts.

8. Sierra de Tramuntana

On the north coast of Mallorca is the beautiful mountain area called Sierra de Tramuntana. For us, it is one of our favourite places, which is why we visit it every year.

In 2011, this mountain area was recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in the Cultural Landscape category. It is a great place to spend a day driving by car through the winding roads. The views are breathtaking, especially in the evening when the sun sets over the sea.
